FAQ

I was wondering...
  1. When can I make-up missed tests or quizzes?
  2. When do progress reports go home?
  3. What can I do to improve my performance on vocabulary tests?
  4. What do I do if I know I am going to be absent?

When can I make-up missed tests or quizzes?

If you knew about the test/quiz in advance, you will make up tests or quizzes
during class the day you return. It is your job to remind Ms. Anderson about
your test/quiz. If your absence was "school related," you are responsible for
being prepared with all make-up work on the day you return.

When do progress reports go home?

You can expect to receive a progress report during the fourth week or at the
beginning of the fifth week of a 9 weeks. Progress reports must be signed
by a parent or guardian, and returned the following day.

What can I do to improve my performance on vocabulary tests?

It is important to begin studying for a vocabulary test at the beginning of
the week, rather than wait until Thursday night. Since the vocabulary tests
require you to apply what you know about each word, it would be wise to
practice using each word correctly. Write a sentence using the vocabulary
word. Include context clues which will indicate the meaning of the word.

Ex. elucidate
Since we didn't understand the concept, we asked the teacher to elucidate
the abstract math problem.

INCORRECT: The word elucidate means to make clear. (The sentence lacks
context clues; it merely states the definition.)

What do I do if I know I am going to be absent?

It is best to let me know as soon as you know when you will be absent. Try
to get assignments ahead of time. If a test is scheduled during this
planned absence, make arrangements to take it the day before. If you are on
campus, but you are not in my class due to a school related event, you are
still responsible for turning in work THAT DAY!
