This is a landmark year for me, for this is my 33nd year of teaching! During my career, I have
taught in 4th & 6th grade self-contained classrooms, 8th grade earth science, Discoveries Unlimited,
6th grade gifted English, theater arts, broadcast journalism & KCMM, and 7th grade gifted English,
and currently, I am in the place I adore most, 6th grade English language arts! After all these years,
there has never been a time that I have doubted my decision to teach school.
I graduated from LSUS in Elementary Education in 1977. Graduate work led to a Masters in
Education with certification in Gifted Education in 1987, Plus 30 in 1992, National Board Certification
in 2004, and Reading Specialist Certification in 2005.
I have been married for over thirty-five years and have two grown sons and a daughter-in-law
who, unfortunately all live out of state. An avid reader and writer, I can often be found reading and
perusing the books at Barnes & Noble. My newest endeavor is playing Senior Olympic basketball,
something I never would have thought I would be doing at age 56!
I hope that my love of literature and writing will spread from me to your child so he/she will
become a lifelong learner, as excited about learning as I am!
