Science Fair due dates and information
DUE DATE (change): OCTOBER 13th -- Problem, hypothesis, procedure and summary of your research. This includes the bibliography. The research summary is a report about your topic. It should cover your topic thoroughly. Save this, because it will become the basis for the Discussion Section of your research paper.
A word about the DETAILED procedures. These should read like a recipe. Don't start by saying "Go to the store & buy eggs." Your materials are listed before your procedures, so you will have everything on hand when you start. The recipes in a cookbook are written so that anyone, anywhere could follow them and get the same results. The same goes for your procedures. Have someone else read them and pay attention to any questions they have. If they aren't sure about something, your procedures are not clear.
1. No personal pronouns (I, you, we, . . .)
2. Numbered steps -- NOT in paragraph form
3. Use metric measures
The Research Summary is where you write about the information you've found on your topic and the items that impact your study. Doing prior research not only lets you understand what is known or being done in your study area, it can help you focus and refine your study.
DUE DATE (change): OCTOBER 20th -- Backboard layout. This is the only submission that does not have to be typed.
Links to rules, forms, bibliograhy formats are on the Links page.
