HEY GUYS and GALS!!

I will be talking with the other coaches prior to every match to determine how many players each team has and who will play.  I would like for ALL of you to plan on attending EVERY MATCH even if you are not playing in the match.  You should wear your tennis shirt and/or sweatshirts to EVERY MATCH!

**Please let me know ASAP if you need a ride to the courts on match days! We will need to leave school as soon as the bell rings to get to the matches by 4pm!

Grades are Updated For the 3rd nine weeks!

**Pep Squad Grades are not entirely accurate because the demerits and bonuses are not calculated into this grade.  If you have a question about your current grade, see me.  Each demerit is worth 1/2%, so as long as you know how many demerits you have so far this semester, you can calculate your actual grade.  Also, several people received 1 percentage bonus point for finishing the 6 laps 1st. GREAT JOB GIRLS!!!

***All other class grades are up to date***

Dear Parents (Health Class):

I would like to take the opportunity to make you aware of my biggest concern thus far.  As outlined in your student's syllabus, they are to bring an article every Friday that is health or fitness related.  This can be from a newspaper, a magazine, or the internet.  This is worth 10 points for simply bringing the article, and another 10 points for the article assignment completed that day in class.  Usually I give the students the opportunity to either present their article to the class, or write a 1 page summary if they do not wish to get in front of the class.  For the last 3 weeks, I have been extremely lenient, allowing them to bring in their articles late and not incurring any penalties.  In addition to this, I even brought articles to class for them to use in order to make up any points that have been missed so far.  The vast majority of my students have completed this task with ease, but I have a handful that have already dug a pretty deep hole with too many 0 out of 20 points.

The rest of the class points consist of tests and daily activity points, which are usually participation points.  If you participate and or turn in the assignment for the day, you receive full credit.  The tests are made up of questions that have specifically been discussed in class and from notes taken on a worksheet that I provide.

When a student is absent from class, it is their resposibility to turn in articles or find out what was missed.  I will provide the worksheets and an opportunity to make up any class particpation points that were missed.  But, again, this is the student's resposibility to ask for the assignments.

I am making every effort to make this class fun and interesting.  Health and fitness are two things that I am very passionate about.  If I can make this class fun, and teach my students something about health in the process, I feel like this class is a success.

Please feel free to contact me anytime.  You can use the email link posted on this webpage or email me at kadixon@caddo.k12.la.us.
