TEACHERWEB FOR LAST MINUTE DETAILS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS CONCERNING UPCOMING
EVENTS.
Bow Ties are in. If you have already paid for yours or turned in your money
for the Logan Farms cards for your tie, come by my room and pick up your
tie. They pretied are first come first serve once you have paid for your
tie. I only have 39 pretied ties. Everyone else will have to learn how to
tie the bowtie on your own.
Logan Farms gift cards are in - if you wanted the 10-$10 cards to sell for
your bow tie come pick them up ASAP. Money MUST be turned in before October
29. You must sign them out and you are responsible for lost or stolen
cards. Guard them well!!!!
District Rally is coming up November 7. Make sure you have plans to be off
work, no birthday parties, no sleepovers, nothing planned that morning from
8:30 til noon!!!! Double absence for not attending!!!!!!!!!
REMINDER: Do NOT sign up for any activity that you are not 100% sure that
you are going to work. These people plan their days/activities according to
the sign up sheets we turn in. It looks bad on our Key Club if you sign up
and then don't go! I will consider dismissing you from Key Club if you sign
up then do not show up!!!!
KEY CLUB MEETING SCHEDULED FOR September 3rd at 6:30 pm at HOT WHEELS SKATING
PALACE in Bossier City. The address is 300 Old Minden Road(across from
Griffs and just before the bowling ally). I will need a count, so you will
need to see me BEFORE school ends on Tuesday, September 1st to sign up.
There will be a list on my door. We will discuss Key Club membership, some
of the service opportunities for the year, and the district rally in
October. New candidates are to be at this meeting also. We will be
finished around 8:30 pm. Make sure you have a ride BEFORE 9:00 pm.
KEY CLUB SERVICE OPPOORTUNITIES:
Service opportunity - August 28 - Back to School Water Extravaganza
(I think this is at Shreve Island Elementary) you will need to be there by
4:30 and it will last until 7:30. If you are planning to attend the football
jamboree- then do NOT sign up!!!

September 3, 2009 - Key Club Meeting at Hot Wheels in Bossier City at 6:30
pm. Make sure you have a ride by 830 pm. The skating rink closes at 9. All
members and new candidates are expected to be there. Service opportunities,
expectations, dues, rally and other pertinent information will be discussed.
September 17, 2009 - Back to School Night at Captain Shreve. I need about 15
volunteers to help with teh spaghetti supper. You will need to be in the
cafeteria by 430 to help set up and serve the dinner that night. You will be
here til about 630 or 700 pm for clean up.
September 12, 2009 - Centenary Book Fair More info to come shortly
September 12, 2009 - Service opportunity with Salvation Army. They are doing
the Bossier City play night at Mitchel Park in Bossier City. It will last
from 3:30 til night fall. This is a mandatory service project/opportunity.
You MUST be there, by 330 to sign in and get your assignment for the
evening. Directions to the park are listed above.
September 17, 2009 - TESTING FOR NEW CANDIDATES WILL BE SEPTEMBER 17th at
7:40 AM. We won't be able to use the auditorium that night because of Back
to School Night activities. Make plans to be in the auditorium and ready to
test at 7:40. We will shut the doors and once testing begins, you will NOT
be allowed in!!! Testing is mandatory final step for membership! You must
pass 23/30 questions and be able to write the pledge! Study guides were
given at the September 10th meeting. If you were absent, go by Simms room
(a209) to pick up your copy.
September 26, 2009 - Gator Run - Sign up sheet is on my door. You will
receive actual times of work later. Usually about 730 or 800 til noon.
September 25 and 26, 2009 - Health Walk at Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier
City. They will need some help to set up on Friday from 3 - 5 or so and then
they need workers on Saturday morning from 6:00 am 'til about noon. Sign up
on door of Simms' room.
September 26 - 8:00 am - 4:00 pm - University Elementary Fall Festival
Red River Revel - If you have not worked a Saturday even prior to the Revel,
you cannot sign up to miss school for these volunteer hours.
October 3-10: Service opportunities through Red River Revel and the Hal
Sutton Children's tent. These opportunities are after school each day and on
the weekends. You must sign up for a Saturday event prior to the Revel in
order to attend the Revel during school hours the next week.
See my door for specific times for volunteering. Do NOT sign up unless you
are 100% sure you will attend the whole session.
October 3: PAINTBALL (Tentative) at OFFLimits Paintball in Haughton. More
details to follow on cost/times/location. You will need to see Mr. Simms for
permission form and OFFLimits waiver in order to participate. This is
strictly volunteer - not required. You must sign up by September 29 and get
a permission slip. It normally costs aroiund $30/$35 for paintgun rental,
equipment and paintballs. The club does NOT pay for your attendance. This
is strictly a fun day for you if you care to join in. See Simms for
permission slip...you must have a completed form in order to play.
RED RIVER REVEL SIGNUP -- See Simms for permission slip. It must be returned
by October 1st to be considered to attend the revel on October 6th. There
are only 75 spots available for the service opportunity, so get your
permission slips in quickly. Jrs/Srs have first choice.
October 8, 2009 -- Key Club Meeting in auditorium @ 7:40 am
Tardies/Absences will be taken so be on time. Tshirt sizes, Logan's Farms
gift cards(for bowties) will be handed out, District Rally, and updated
schedules will be discussed.
October 10, 2009 -- Down's Syndrome "Buddy Walk" at LSUS. 8:00 am - 12:30 or
so. Sign up on Simms' door BEFORE 2nd lunch shift on Friday. Remember, you
must be there for the whole session or you will be counted as absent and lose
those hours worked.
October 11 - Shreveport Zombie Walk: 4-6 pm at Mall St. Vincent Sears
court. Carry canned food items and join in the 'zombie costume' walk. Have
someone sign off and give me a contact number if you participate in the 2
hour event.
October 15 - 8:00 am in Auditorium foyer. We will take the yearbook
picture. Dress in Khakis, long sleeved white shirt, dark tie with jacket.
October 15 - South Highlands Carnival 345-845 pm. Sign up is on Mr. Simms
door.
October 24 - 6-9 pm AC Steere carnival. Sign up on Mr. Simms' door.
November 7, 2009 - District rally at BYRD High School. This is mandatory for
all members. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! If you are not present, it will count as a
double absence. Make plans NOW to be in attendance. You have one month to
plan. We will wear khaki slacks, long sleeved white shirt, dress shoes(no
tennis shoes or flip flops), and the bowties.
November 11, 2009 - spots for helping at Youree Drive middle school - sign up
on Mr. Simms' door.
November 12, 2009 - 745 am Key Club Meeting in gym. Tardies/absences will
be counted.
November 20, 2009 - Money for Key Club/Z Club dance(December 11 from 7-10:30
pm) is due. $15.00 per person - and at least one member of the couple MUST
be a member of Captain Shreve Key club or Z Club. Money is due to Simms,
Mrs. White or Mrs. Clark before November 20. Savoies will be catering the
dinner portion of the evening at 7:00 pm.
December 5, 2009 - Key Club members can ring the bells for the Salvation Army
at the Wal Mart on Youree Drive. Let me know through my school email if you
are interested in working. There are 2 hour shifts, and you can sign up for
several if you need the hours. I will have a sign up sheet on my door when
we return for you to sign up.
December 10, 2009 - 745 am Key Club meeting - gym. Some of you will be
released if you are late or do not show up for this meeting. Your 2 unexcused
absences and tardies have been met. You need to be careful!!! We will
discuss the dance. I will also have a list of any members in danger of not
having enough service hours. Remember, you must have 25 hours before leaving
for Christmas break, or you will be on probabation for the spring semester.
Seniors who do not have your 25 hours will be removed from the Key Club
roster for the spring semester.
December 11, 2009 7-10:30 pm - Key Club/Z Club dance in CSHS Cafeteria.
Savoie's will be catering a meal from 7 til 730 and the dance will start
shortly afterward.
