Reading: We are working on comprehension strategies for fiction and
nonfiction stories. From time to time students will be asked to bring home a
story to reread. Vocabulary words are given at the beginning of the week and
tested on Fridays.
Language: Students are given writing assignments at least once a week.
We spend most of the week working on the rough draft of the assignment,
proofreading and editing, and then completing the final draft. Skills such
as punctuation, capitalization, and grammar are also worked on throughout
the week.
Math: We have covered place value and rounding. We are working on time
and money at this point which are basic life skills. We also practice skip
counting and learning multiplication facts which are then related to
division facts.
