Welcome to the busy month of December! It will go quickly, as did November. Thanks to all parents who sent the ingredients and extras for our Thanksgiving feast. We made delicious soup and had fun doing it. We also had fun at Family Literacy Night and I was glad to see so many parents and students attend. We will continue with our letters in December with O and F and a few new sight words too. Of course there will also be lots of seasonal activities. On Tuesday, December 15, we will have our annual Holiday Program here at Chahta-Ima at 6:00. Please have your student here by 5:45 and they usually dress up in their "Sunday Best". Be prepared to hear some great songs by the kids. It usually only last an hour, so please plan to stay until the end so the final singers will have an audience to sing for. On Thursday, December 17 we will have our Class Christmas celebration. It will be low-key. We will have a book exchange and make "Reindeer Food" and play a few games. Each student should bring a book to exchange, please wrap it. It does not need to be expensive...Little Golden Books are great and quite reasonable. No coloring books, just books to read. Each child who brings a book will get a book. For the "Reindeer Food" (a delicious trail mix) I will need each child to bring an ingredient. I will send a note telling you what to bring. We will munch on the Reindeer Food while watching a Christmas movie. Later we will play Christmas bingo. On that day, we will also clean out the cubbies, so each student will need to bring a large Kitchen garbage bag to school to carry all blankets, pillows, etc. home in. Please wash them over the holidays. Friday, December 18 is a half day of school for the students....teachers will work in the afternoon to prepare you student's next report card. (Keep working on those sight words!) We are working on a Christmas surprise for you from your child. I am providing the supplies for this project...hope you like it! Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! See you on Monday, January 4th!
