Tips for Parents

The Louisiana Department of Education encourages all students to read every day. Reading is the greatest factor in your child’s overall academic success. Children who read more do better in school. Our goal is for every student to become a capable reader and to develop a love for reading. Parents can help their children reach that goal by reading to them and with them daily.  If your children are already reading, encourage them to read at least 30 minutes every day.  Involve them in reading activities at the public library. Help your child see that books are “passports to the world. “
