Dear Parents,
Don't forget: Starting this week in November, the second grade students
will be collecting perishable items and can goods for the Chahta-Ima
Elementary NAC group. This group of 2nd and 3rd grade students will work with
Mrs. Brenda in the cafeteria to help teach good nutrition to the preschool,
kindergarten, and first grade students. The NAC group is going to use the
items donated to make food baskets for CIE families in need. We are going to
weigh these items each day and record the weight of food we have donated to
these families. We will graph our data collected. We will also tie this act
of kindness into our “Thanksgiving” unit about caring and giving to those in
need.
If you would like for your child to participate, please send in any
perishable items such as macaroni, rice, and noodles. You may also send in
any items in boxes such as Pasta Roni noodles and or Rice Roni, macaroni and
cheese, brownies, Hamburger Helper and any cake mixes. We will also collect
any can goods you would like to donate.
On Wednesday, November 11th, at 8:30 a.m. the second grade students will
be performing in the Veteran's Day Program. You are all invited.
During the week of November 16th – 20th, we will talk about Native
Americans, Pilgrims, the original 13th colonies, and the events of the first
Thanksgiving. We will discuss Native Americans and discover the route and
events of the Pilgrims on their journey to the new land.
Family Literacy Night will be on Tuesday, November 17th at 6:00
p.m. Please come and enjoy some fun and wonderful activities you and your can
do at home to reinforce reading skills. Please send in your registration form
by Friday, November 13th.
Remember the Thanksgiving Holidays begin Monday, November 23rd and end on
Friday, November 27th.
