Vocabulary words – Student friendly definitions
1. trudged – If you walked slowly as though your feet were stuck in mud, you trudged.
2. gushed – When you were excited about something and talked a lot about it, you gushed.
3. coincidence – When the same things happen at the same time, it is usually a coincidence.
4. pleasant – Something that is pleasant is enjoyable and makes you happy.
5. modeled – If you modeled something, you showed it so other people could see it.
6. murmured – If you murmured something, you said it softly so people could hardly hear it.
7. loyal – Someone who is loyal sticks by you in good times and bad.
8. recited – If you recited a poem, you memorized it and then spoke it aloud.
9. frustrated – When you try and try to do something and cannot, then you might feel
frustrated.
10. imitated – If you copied what someone did or said, you imitated him or her.

1. conquer – When you conquer something, such as a problem or a fear, you win against it
and overcome it.
2. resistance – When you feel resistance, you do not want something to happen.
3. assembly – An assembly is a group of people who have gathered for a reason.
4. plenty – If you have plenty of something, you have more than enough
5. dismiss – To dismiss is to give permission to leave.
6. squirmed – If you squirmed in your seat a lot, you kept wiggling around as if you were uncomfortable.
7. patchwork – Patchwork is cloth made by sewing together small pieces of different fabrics.
8. autographed – If you autographed something, you signed your name on it.
9. ponder – When you ponder, you take time to think about an idea.
10. anticipation – When you feel anticipation, you feel excited because something is about to happen.
