Mrs. Cantin has been teaching at Cypress Cove Elementary since it opened in
1994. Prior to 1994, she taught first grade at Honey Island Elementary next
door for 6 years, and in the public and parochial schools in Orleans and
Jefferson Parishes.
She has a degree in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Curriculum
and Instruction. She is trained as a teacher assessor and mentor for new
teachers and she also is supervising teacher for teacher interns and student
teachers. She has more than 28 years of teaching experience. In 2005, Mrs.
Cantin became a National Board Certified Teacher (Early Childhood
Generalist)and served as a mentor for new candidates for the National Board of
Professional Teaching Standards.
Mrs. Cantin says:
"I love teaching first grade at Cypress Cove. Each year I strive to be the
best teacher I can be. I hold high standards for the children in my class
and feel that each child is given the opportunity to reach his/her potential.
My husband and I have lived in Slidell since 1983 and we have three sons (two
who have graduated from college and one who is still in college). We
have two cats.
When I am not working on school related projects, I enjoy reading, gardening,
cooking, baking and traveling!
