Read Across America

50 STATES- 50 BOOKS!  Read Across America is a literary tour of the United States of America. It allows students to learn more about the geography of the United States through reading selected literature. The lists of books that have been selected for this project vary greatly in ability and content in order to include a wide variety of genres and to accommodate students’ many reading levels. 

A United States map is posted in the Gateway room.  As a student completes a book and form, he or she will color and initial the corresponding state on the map. As a state is colored in on our wall map, I will add it to this page.   This is NOT a competition. We will “read across America” as a class, not individually.

Use book orders, local, school, and classroom libraries to find the books on the lists below. I will work on making these books a part of my Gateway library.
