8/16/09 Dear Parents, I enjoyed meeting each one of you today. You are an awesome group and I look forward to working with you this year. Thanks to all who signed up to help in the classroom, at home, and through the PTA. Remember that we now have 25 students. WOW--I can't believe the Gills received the phone call at noon and made it to the meeting. I know we covered a lot of material and, naturally, now that I am home, I am thinking of things that I forgot to tell you. One bit of information....it is not required that your child participate in the Science Fair/Social Studies Fair. However, I do give 25 bonus points if you child does one and 50 if they do both. This is just a way to get some extra points. In social studies this year, we will study timelines, communities, maps, globes, Louisiana, goods and services, local government, citizenship, landforms, and environmentalism. In science we will study rocks & minerals, weather, solar system, characteristics and life cycles of organisms, matter and energy, habitats, ecosystems, and the scientific process.
