Hive Happenings and Weekly Updates

November 30, 2009

Dear Honeybee Friends,
Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed our Thanksgiving Break. We only
have 3 weeks before we are out again for the Christmas Holidays. This is a
very exciting time in First Grade! We will decorate gingerbread houses, go
on a field trip to SciPort, enjoy wearing our pj's on Polar Express Day, and
have a Christmas Party. You still have time to help the student council by
sending family sized crackers and cookies for the food bank. For the next
two weeks we will follow our regular routine with a new story in reading, new
spelling words, grammar skills, math, science and social studies. The third
week of December we will not have a new story or spelling words. We will
concentrate on reading holiday stories in class, reviewing skills we have
already introduced and integrating our science and social studies lessons.
That will be the week or our SciPort field trip and Polar Express Day. As a
special gift to YOU and your child, we will have no homework during the third
week of December. Of course it is important to continue to read with and to
your child and record the minutes on your child's December RAH sheet.
November RAH sheets are due Tuesday, December 1st. I wish you all a joyful
holiday season!

Your friend,
Mrs. Hillidge
