OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES:
If, for some reason, you cannot complete an assignment, you must submit
a written, signed explanation from your parent or guardian in order to get
an extension. Keep in mind that this policy is meant for emergencies only;
the teacher will make the decision. (A broken computer or printer IS NOT a
valid excuse!) Any assignment may be hand-written; typing is not required.
TESTING PROCEDURES:
Testing time begins when the first student receives his/her test, and
ends when the last test is turned in. Procedures include,but are not limited
to the following:
1. Do not communicate in any manner with any other student during test
time.
2. Do not make eye contact with another student.
3. Do not look into or remove items from your book bag.
4. You should not have any writing on your hand, desktop, etc.
5. There will be no use of study aids of any sort,unless permission is
given as an open-book test.
**ANY STUDENT WHO VIOLATES TEST PROCEDURES MAY RECEIVE A ZERO OR REFERRAL.

READING COUNTS
GOALS:
Students will read silently for fifteen minutes everyday:
*to acquire an appreciation for reading
*to motivate themselves to read books that suit their interest/level
*to develop vocabulary, reading comprehension, and test-taking skills
INSTRUCTION:
Students will:
*participate in SSR daily for fifteen minutes
*read books on their appropriate lexile level
*keep a daily log of what they read in class
*keep a bibliography of books they completed
*only take tests on books that were recorded on the log and read in
class
Reading Counts constitutes 20% of the Reading grade and is based on par-
ticipation, log sheets, and computerized tests.
***STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE A READING COUNTS TEST ON ANY OF THE
NOVELS READ IN CLASS.
