Handouts

This is a copy of your child's first handout.  Each student will receive only one handout.  This format is used for in class assignments such a group laboratory activities and your child's science fair project.

                                                   Inquiry Laboratory Report

State the problem:  Write out the full question and use the correct punctuation mark.

Research:  Bibliographic resources.  Alphabetized using the MLA format.

Hypothesis:  If something changes (variable), then something else can be tested.

Experiment:

                   Materials List:  List all items used in the experiment.

                  Procedure:  Put your step by step method for conducting your experiment.  Make sure your steps logical and make sensible.  Another                   student should be able to repeat your procedure with no problem.

                  Data & Observation Chart:  Organize your observations in chart/ graph format.  Read over data carefully before composing your analysis.

Analysis:  summary your reslts into clear concise statements.

Conclusion:  Accept/reject your hypothesis:

 

Evaluation:  Students will be required to assess their experiences with statements about what they learned only for inclass activities.

Application:  Students do not use the evaluation section for the Science Fair Project instead they research and locate possible uses for their project in the "real" world.

NOTE:  I added some information to enable parents to better understand what this format will be used for in my class.
