OBJECTIVE #2: Students will be able to identify the differences between reflecting and refracting telescopes.

OBJECTIVE #3: Students will be able to recognize the differeces between optical and radio telescopes.

OBJECTIVE #4: Students will be able to discuss the identify what type of telescope is the famous Hubble Telescope and why has it become so important to us.

OBJECTIVE #5: Students will be able to chose one photo from Hubble that they think is truly amazing and expain why.

SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT HOMEWORK: Students will prepare their project board and abstract for Presentation Week Jan. 19th - Jan. 22nd.

HOMEWORK: Print out two separate diagrams of the two types of telescopes and use them to identify the two scopes in the classroom. Chose their favorite photo from the Hubble Gallery site and print it out for class discussion.

LIFE SCIENCE:

CHAPTER 8 PROTISTS & FUNGI:

Objective #1: Students willl review how to prepare the "stinking brew" container and go to the school retention pond to fill up a container of detrius and dry grasses. ( WEATHER PERMITTING)

OBJECTIVE #2: Students WILL REVIEW THEIR NOTES ON PROTISTS FROM BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS AND START DIAGRAMMING ONE SPECIMEN FROM EACH OF THE 12 PHYLA.

OBJECTIVE #3: Students will be able to correctly classify protists into the three general categories that describe their energy production.

7th grade Objective 4: Students will be able to use their photos on the 12 phyla to help them classify and identifying each phyla.

Objective #5 : Students will be able to compare and contrast the protists by placing them in correct groupings: aimal-like, plant-like & fungus-like.

ACTIVITY: GO TO POND TO CAPTURE DETRIUS/GRASSES TO START FEEDING PROTISTS FOR OBSERVATION LAB.

REG. SCIENCE HOMEWORK: COMPLETE PHOTO FINDING ACTIVITY ON THE 12 PHYLA OF PROTISTS. PASTE/GLUE ON PHOTOS TO ALBUM PAGES GIVEN BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS.

PROJECT HOMEWORK: PREPARE PROJECT BOARD AND ABSTRACT FOR ORAL PRESENATION WEEK DATE. ANY ????? PLEASE ASK OR HAVE YOUR PARENTS E-MAIL ME IMMEDIATELY.

OBJECTIVE #1: Students will be able to COMPLETE YESTERDAY'S OBJ. #1 IF WEATHER DID NOT PERMIT YESTERDAY.

OBJECTIVE 2nd: Students will be able to STUDY THEIR PROTISTS PHOTOS AND ASK QUESTIONS TO LEARN IF THEY HAVE CLASSIFIED THEIR PHOTOS CORRECTLY.

3rd OBJECTIVE: Students will be able EXPLAIN WHY IT I SO DIFFICULT TO CLASSIFY PROTISTS INTO ONE GENERAL GROUP OR ONE PHYLA.

SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT HOMEWORK: STUDENTS WLL PREPARE PROJECT BOARD AND ABSTRACT FOR PRESENTATION DATE.

. HOMEWORK: RE-READ SECTION 1, CH. 8 AND WRITE ALL DEFINITIONS AS YOU READ.
