Grading PoliciesAssignments and GradesPercentages: 20% 9 weeks exam 60% all other assignments English: 20% 9 weeks exam 80% all other assignments Points: The number of points each assignment is worth will weight the grades. For example, a test may be worth 100 points, while a homework assignment may be worth 25 points. Grades: Your nine weeks grades will consist of tests, quizzes, Reading Counts, reading logs, the organization of your binder, DOL & journals, formal writing assignments, class work, homework, spelling, vocabulary and participation. Tests & Quizzes: For each unit you will have a test, which are worth 100 points each. I do give pop-quizzes, so stay on top of your work. Reading Counts: Your grade will consist of achieving half of your Reading Counts points at the mid-term and for achieving the total Reading Counts points at the end of the term. The other part of the 20% will be for completing your Reading Log and participation. Reading Logs: You will keep track of which books you read, as well as a summary of each. These will be checked every two weeks and are worth 10 points each. Binder: You must have a binder for all of your class work that includes 7 dividers. You must keep your binder neat and organized. Journals/DOL: You must have a separate marbleized notebook for your journals. You will be given a book containing all of your DOL. These will stay in the classroom at all times. Formal Writing Assignments: You will have a number of different written assignments throughout the year. These will all be weighted differently. Class work & Homework: This will be taken up periodically during the year and graded. Each assignment will be worth a different amount. Spelling & Vocabulary: Spelling and vocabulary words will be given within the DOL and you will have a test once a week on both. Tests are worth 100 points each. Extra Credit: You receive extra credit by turning in your passes from the 9 weeks, using cane cash for particular assignments and by turning in a parent-signed copy of your grades weekly. |
