Reading Counts Classroom Policy
(Please see information below concerning restricted quizzes** and RC Book List)
Reading Counts Due Dates for the Year:
*These are subject to change
1st Nine Weeks: Thursday, September 14th-10 points due
Wednesday, October 1st- all 20 points due
2nd Nine Weeks: Thursday, November 5th -10 points due
Thursday, December 11th- all 20 points due
3rd Nine Weeks: Thursday, January 28th -12 points due
Wednesday, March 5th - all 24 points due
4th Nine Weeks: Thursday, April 16th-12 points due
Thursday, May 14st - all 24 points due
I reserve the right to alter this policy according to parish mandates.
You will read silently everyday for 15-20 minutes with the following goals:
· Develop an appreciation for pleasure reading
· Increase comprehension levels
· Discover the importance of reading as an essential skill for academic success
Procedures:
· Student participates in SSR daily.
· Student reads within assigned lexile range.
· Student keeps a DAILY log of what is read in class.
· Student keeps a bibliography of completed books.
· Student must pass computerized tests with at least a 70%
· Student must only take tests on books that are recorded in the log and have been read in class.
Grading:
· 20% of Reading grade
· Based equally on participation, book logs, and computerized tests

**Restricted Quizzes**:
These novels are restricted for various reasons...
usually due to the fact that the novel is included in
the Guaranteed Curriculum.
You may not test on these novels in my classroom:
