Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to a new school year at Fontainebleau Jr. High! I hope you enjoyed 
your summer vacation and are ready to begin a whole new experience in 
Talented Art!

I would like to take a few moments to introduce myself, and welcome 
our new students. My name is Eric Danby and I will be the Talented Art 
teacher at Fontainebleau Jr. High, Lee Road Jr. High, and Covington Pathways 
for the 2009/10 school year. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Southeastern 
Louisiana University, with a concentration in sculpture.  As an art educator, 
I value my job and the wonderful opportunity that I will have to share my 
knowledge with your child. Student success in my classroom is my number one 
priority.

The Talented Art Program is a challenging and thrilling experience 
that is designed specifically to compliment each student’s creativity and 
skill level. I will ask my students to not only increase his/her knowledge 
and skills, but to also independently demonstrate problem solving to tackle 
their personal weak spots in Art, Art History, and Critique.  Your child will 
be working with a wide variety of media this year, including, but not limited 
too, drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture and mural art. 
We will be competing in local contests as well as looking for areas to 
volunteer in the community.

Each student will be taken out of two classes once a week for Talented Art. 
(This is usually P.E. and an elective class). They will begin coming to 
Talented Art Monday August 17th; an individual schedule for each student has 
been sent home as of Wednesday August 12th.
