November 9th - 13th Sketchbook assignment # 6 Music Illustrations I would like for you to pick a song that you enjoy, or can relate to, and draw what you hear. Listen for words in the song that help paint a picture of what the song is about, make an illustration of your interpretation of the song. You may want to also think about how the music makes you feel, what are you thinking about while the song plays, and what is the song actually about. I am looking for detail work, shading/modeling, color, and your overall interpretation of the song. Please bring a copy of the song in, or make sure that I can access it via the internet, to help me grade the assignment properly. Most of all, Zone out and have fun with it. November 2nd - 6th Sketchbook assignment #5 Directional line drawing. Start anywhere on your paper with a black ink pen, and move in a certain direction. Stop, and begin in a new direction. Try to go in every direction at least once, and try to draw as many differen kinds of lines in as many directions as possible. When you have your abstract directional line drawing, add color however you feel fit. you can also go back in with some different colored pens to put textures between lines. Have fun with it, and see what happens. October 19th - October 30th Do a Portrait of yourself in your sketch book. It can either be a detailed realistic immage of yourself drawn by looking in a mirror, or you may do an abstract immage comprised of all of the things that you love, or whatever makes you the person that you are. I want to see details, shading, and color. October 12th - October 16th No homework for 7th or 8th grade students. We will have homework next week!!!!! welcome to the 2nd quarter. September 21st - October 9th No homework for 7th or 8th grade students. If you have homework that has not been completed, this is the time to get cought up. Good luck on your exams. September 14th - 18th Sketchbook assignment #4 Draw a Noun -(person,place,thing) I would like for you to do a drawing of a person, a place, or a thing from your immagination, or memory. You do not have to actually look at anything to do your drawing. Think of it as an immaginative free draw homework assignment. You can draw anything that you would like, but I want to see it with details, shadeing, and color to get full credit. Please try to push your abilities as much as possible. September 7th - 11th No homework this week. :) August 31st – September 4th Sketchbook assignment #3 I would like for you to draw the interior of something, or place, on a page of your sketchbook. You should pick a subject matter that is interesting, abnormal, that isn’t normally drawn, but keep it appropriate for school. Some examples would be to draw the inside of a kitchen cupboard, the inside of your book bag, your closet, the engine under your parent’s car hood, etc…… I do not want to see the inside of an empty box, the imaginary interior of your brain, or any other attempts to back out of actually trying to draw something intelligent and pushing your abilities to their max. I am looking for shading, observational drawing skills, and craftsmanship. You may add color if you would like, but grey scale will do just fine. Please take your time with this and do your best to push your abilities, I will not except any more last minute scribbles for a grade. Have a great Labor Day weekend and I will see you upon our return. August 24th – 28th Sketchbook assignment #2 Find an object at home that you find interesting, and place it on a table at an angle. Then, draw a box in two point perspective that would fit your object inside of it. Place your object so that it is at the same angle as the box, and draw the item inside of the box. Remember to draw your box lightly; the focus is the object not the box. I would like for the box to fit just inside of your page, so no small drawings please. This process will help you map out, and maintain, correct perspective when drawing an object, or objects, on your page. I am looking for correct perspective, shading, patterns, observational drawing skill, etc…. It is always recommended that you add color, but grey scale is perfectly acceptable. August 17th – 21st Sketchbook assignment #1 First, I would like for you to get something to eat, whether it may be an apple, orange, Hamburger, Taco, sandwich, pear, or anything else that you may like. Then, divide three of your sketchbook pages in half with a line, not long ways. In the first box, on the first page, I want you to draw your food item in its entirety as you see it. Then, take a bite and draw it again in the second box. Continue this process of taking a few bites and drawing until your food is gone. In the last box you will draw whatever is left over, like an apple core sitting on your napkin, a hamburger wrapper and some crumbs and maybe ketchup droplets, orange peelings on a plate, etc……. This completes your first sketchbook assignment. I hope you enjoyed it and have a cool drawing to show off to your friends and family. You may want to finish it off with some color pencils to give it life, but grey scale is perfectly acceptable. I do expect you to add shading to give the illusion of depth, 3-d modeling, to your food Item. Most importantly, enjoy your self and I hope your snack was good. I will see you in class upon your return; e-mail me if you have any questions.
Or, would you like to view and optionally restore one of these previous versions?
