Mrs. Fonseca’s Science and History
Overview and Guidelines
OVERVIEW: Students will participate in a variety of activities in order to enhance their learning experience in both Louisiana History and Life Science.
GRADES: Final grades are computed using the following percentages
Starters/Homework= 20% Class work/Test/Other = 60%
Final Exam = 20%
*grades include: quizzes, chapter/unit test, projects, participation, binder checks, current events, bellringers, enrichment, homework, and nine week exams*
Students and Parents should monitor class progress using “STI” – the school board’s on-line recordkeeping system.
It is the student's responsibility to put graded papers in designated section of their binder. If there is a discrepancy with a student's grade the student must have their graded paper(s) as proof. If the student looses their paper(s) the grade remains the same. If a parent would like to discuss the student’s work they may contact me through email, a note, or by phone. Email: jamie.fonseca@stpsb.org Ph# 985-875-7501
HOMEWORK: Homework is valued at 20pts. Day late homework receives half credit and any homework turned in later than a day late will be unacceptable. Students expected to record assignments in their student planner daily.
PROJECTS/OUTSIDE ASSIGNMENTS: Oral reports, research papers, current events, unfinished class work etc. are not considered homework. These assignments will receive a formal grade usually based between 100-300 points. Students will be made aware of the point value given for each assignment. Points will be deducted for any assignment turned in late.
ABSENT: IT IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO INQUIRE ABOUT ANY MISSED ASSIGNMENTS. It is the STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY to schedule and make up any test or quizzes taken on the day they were absent. Any work not made up in a timely manner (Within 2-8 days of returning to school) will result in a zero.
TEACHER WEB: This is my way of communicating to students and parents about information pertaining to my class (assignments, announcements, policies, due dates, handouts etc.) It is encouraged for students and parents to check this site frequently.
