SECOND NINE WEEKS
WEEKS ONE, TWO, and THREE
10/12 – 10/30
The students will continue their study of Unit 3 – Creating a Nation. Chapter 6 details the “players” and the “plays” of the war. Students will create a timeline of pertinent events surrounding the Revolution and select one key figure from this historical era for a brief biographical sketch (25 point homework grade). A standard chapter test will be administered on Tuesday of week 2 for chapter 6 and Wednesday of week 3 for chapter 7. Upon completion of these chapters, the students will be able to answer Guiding Questions 4, 5, and 6. On Friday of week 2, the students will create a piece of pottery that will be fired in the school kiln.
WEEKS FOUR and FIVE
11/2 – 11/13
The students will begin their analysis of the United States Constitution by reading, discussing, and rewriting the Constitution in their own words. Students will be given periodic assessments of the Articles as they are completed.
WEEK SIX
11/16 – 11/20
The students will complete activities associated with Civics in Action: A Citizenship Handbook.
WEEKS SEVEN AND EIGHT
11/30 – 12/11
The students will begin their study of Unit 4 – The New Republic. Chapter 8 outlines the development of the office of the President of the United States and the trials and tribulations that plagued the young country. A standard chapter test will be administered for this chapter.
WEEK NINE
12/14 – 12/18
The students will prepare for and take their nine week exams.
