Grading Policy

GRADED WORK You are expected to record all grades either in your planner, so you may calculate your grade average at any time. Various assignments are worth varying point values, but assignments will include: reading log entries; vocabulary; spelling; skills tests and quizzes; special projects and presentations; homework and classwork participation; grammar lessons; writing lessons; journal averages; Reading Counts program participation; and participation in and preparation for daily silent reading. Students should never throw away graded work. All work must be turned in on time. Any work not turned in will be recorded as a zero in the grade book.

Reading grades will be weighted in the following manner:

20% Exam grade

20% Reading counts (reading logs, silent reading participation, RC test scores)

20% Classwork/Homework

40% Tests/Quizzes

**Please note that at interim time the average of grades will only add up to 80% due to the fact that exams have not been taken or recorded.

***Please also note that at interim time the Reading Counts portion of the grade may not include the RC test scores since the deadline for reading points is at the end of the 9 weeks.
