Classroom Procedures:
Our classroom procedures are in place to ensure that our learning enviornment works smoothly and efficently to ensure your success. Any student who disrupts class is infringing on the rights of other students to learn. This will not be tolerated.
Arrival:
Enter the classroom in an orderly and respectful fashion. You are expected to have your supplies and assignments ready when you walk into the door-which usually means planner, ELA binder, writer's notebook, something to write with and a book for SSR. If you are not in your seat working already, the tardy bell is your signal to take your seat and begin work.
Dismissal:
Please remain seated when the bell rings. The bell does NOT dismiss you-I Do! Do not start packing up until invited to do so. This will not get you out of class any earlier.
Seating:
Sit only in your assigned seat. Seating assignments will change as I see fit. If you have special needs, please let me know before I make the seating arrangements. Do not get up and walk around the room! If you need to throw something away keep it by your desk until the end of the class. If you need to sharpen a pencil wait until the class is working independently.
Visitors:
When someone comes to the door, you are expected to stay seated and continue quietly working on your assignment until I can return teaching.
Announcements:
Whenever announcements are being made, everyone is to be absolutely quiet so everyone can hear what is being said. If someone calls into the classroom for me, do not answer for me, unless it is an emergency and I am unable.
Substitute teachers:
When I am absent, all classroom procedures are to be followed as usual. Assigned work will be checked when I return. I expect the substitute to be treated with the utmost respect as a guest teacher in your classroom, failure to do so will result in consequences.
Restroom Use & Passes:
You are expected to go to the restroom before school, during lunchtime, and between classes. You will not be allowed to go to the restroom unless it is an emergency or if you use a pass. You will receive 3 passes per nine weeks. This includes going to the library. You can also use 4 cane cash to leave the room. These may not be shared with other students.
Testing:
Testing begins when the first student receives his or her test and ends when the tests are collected. Procedures include:
Ø Not making comments to any students
Ø Not making eye contact with any other student
Ø Not looking at any other student’s test
Ø Having something to do after the test, if you finish early
Ø Not asking me any questions regarding the test
Absences:
It is your responsibility to find out what work you missed if you are absent. If there was an assignment given, you will have a slip in the folder on the wall by the door. If the assignment was a worksheet, it will be in the “missed assignment” folder. I will not ask you for these assignments. It is your responsibility to find out what you missed and get it to me within the time limit of one day of make-up for each day of excused absence. After that you will receive a zero for the assignment. For missed test, you need to see me and be ready to take the test upon your return.
