DECEMBER PC Lab Priorities: 1. Type Traditions Piece for Dec. Portfolio a. One or more paragraphs telling the story of the person you interviewed and a tradition from their childhood b. One or more paragraphs telling the story of a tradition from your family-remember traditions are the way you do things in your family, so we all have traditions. 2. Type November Portfolio Piece-remember a portfolio piece is your best piece of writing thus far in the year that is not yet typed. A piece you like and want to work on making even better. Be sure you spell check, re- read it, and title it (page heading can have Nov. Portfolio, but this is not a title! Then get permission to print and use the laser printer, the 4700 and print it once! 3. Eagle: go to the FJH website and click on the Eagle button at the bottom left. Take the test using your username and password. It is under reading. Pass with 80% or higher by Dec. 15th. 4. Take a RC test on Crash. 5. Find a poem that you really like online (or in a book), copy it to word and fit to one page and get permission to print. Memorize the poem by retyping or rewriting it and saying it aloud without looking. Be ready to recite it for exam week. 6. Young Authors: determine your best piece of writing (s) from at least one of the following categories: poetry, fiction and non-fiction (you can submit up to one for each category) You must format this way: one inch margins(4), 12 pt. font, Times Roman, all errors corrected, all original writing, no page heading except title and 500 word limit. 7. Christmas letter or poem to parent(s): type your best piece of poetry or a letter to your parents, polish and perfect and then get permission to print on holiday paper for a gift, due 12/16. 8. If all of the above are done or we are in the last five minutes of class go to freerice.com and work on vocabulary practice and feeding the hungry. 9. You may always go to louisianapass.org and work on ELA for 7th grade too * Xtra Credit: if 1-7 are finished you may ask Ms Ball for research on Dickens. *No Games or internet surfing, work on list above ONLY! In general Remember: Check the planner Monday through Thursday night. Each student is responsible for copying all work for the day into their planner and then highlighting or circling work that needs to be completed for homework that night. All students should plan to have homework Monday through Thursday night for 15 minutes. Priorities are as listed below: 1. Completing assignments due the following day 2. Studying for upcoming tests or reviewing readings 4. Reading: if all of the above is done READ! Reading is the best way to become a better reader, speller and writer, which will help students in every subject. Reading also promotes imagination since students visualize characters and scenes in their brain.
