Grading Policies
8 Units
There are four nine week periods. This gives a total of 8 units. The 8 units are:
Health Softball Basketball Badminton Flag Football Soccer Volleyball Fitness
Units are combined to make up a nine week period. 20% of the overall nine week period will be a final comprehensive test about the units covered in the nine week period. Health is graded a little differently than gym because there are no dressing out or participation points given. The grading policy is as follows.
Grading for Health
1. 80% of the overall grade will be based upon daily journals and weekly tests. 2. The quizzes will be worth 10-50 points.
3. Tests are worth 100 points. 3. 20% of the overall grade will be a comprehensive final exam given at the end of the 9 weeks
Grading for the gym
1. 80% of the students grade is based upon daily dressing out, participation, and unit skills tests.
2. The grades are given daily for participation and dressing out. Each student begins the week with the potential to earn 100 points, and each student may earn 20 points each day. The daily 20 points are added up at the end of the week to equal the 100 points. 3. If a students does not dress out then 10 points are earned for the day; only if the student participates.
4. If a student dresses out but does not participate, without a valid excuse from home, then 0 points are earned for the day. Participaiton is just as important as dressing out. 5. The students must dress out in the proper attire daily. a. white or grey shirt b. blue P.E. shorts, no jean or cut off shorts c. shoes with proper heel and ankle support d. a combination lock is required to use the lockers It is the responsibility of the student to remember his or her clothes. Failure to dress out in the proper attire will result in loss of daily points. 6. Skills tests are given at the end of each unit. The skills tests are designed to test the basic understanding of a sport skill. An example would be the proper technique used to shoot a basketball. Technique is more important than immediate results. Proper technique will always end up with positive results. These tests are worth 100 points.
7. These points equal to be 1100 points at the end of each nine weeks. 80% of the student's grade will come from these 1100 points.
8. 20% of the overall grade will be a comprehensive final exam. The exam will cover everything covered in the nine week period. |
