Dear Parents,

Last week was a fun week full of bats and owls.  We, of course, learned about nocturnal animals.  I would like to send out a huge thank you to all those who purchased books for our class.  I can’t tell you how very much we appreciate the additions to our class library.  Without your generous contributions the children would not have the wealth of resources and fine literature at their disposal.  Thank you to all the wonderful grandparents who made our grandparent day a huge success.

This week we will finish up The Three Bears unit and begin La Tortuga.  La Tortuga is a wonderful Mexican folk tale of a very wise turtle.   In this unit the children will learn the color yellow, the concepts of in, on, around; circle and round.  They will also spend time identifying categories, recognizing end punctuation and discriminate between soft and loud sounds.

In math we will be working with the number 6 (six) and begin working with joining problems.  Our thematic unit is a science unit where we will learn to distinguish between a turtle, tortoise and a terrapin.  As you can see our year is moving along at a nice pace.  We are enjoying your children immensely.  This is a wonderful group of bright young children.  Thank you for all that you do for your children and for us.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Connie
