Honey Island's 1st Art Festival was a huge success.  Thank you to 
all that participated. It was fantastic.

"Wild About Learning" continues as we head into the last few weeks of 
school. We will focus on the skills in our reader as we finish our textbook. 
Analogies, figurative language, and a variety of comprehension skills we be 
attacked.   
In math we will conclude a unit on measurement and dive into fractions. We 
will continue to increase our speed and accuracy of our facts from 1 to 12. 
Please keep practicing at home. 
   
We are finishing up a unit on Plants and Animals in science.  Next we will 
look at Citizens in Action using our Social Studies book.  In Language, we 
will explore a variety of poetry writing while sharpening our narrative and 
descriptive writing skills.  We will continue studying adjectives and go on 
to adverbs.

Students have a few more weeks to make their AR goals. Congrats to Megan for 
making 100 points.  With a little determination a couple of others can make 
this goal.  Please listen and encourage your child to read and stay on tasks 
in class.  SCHOOL ISN'T OVER YET.
  
   
Dates to remember:
   April 24 - 27 Gently Used Book Sale in our library.
  
   April 27 - Friday: Volunteer Appreciation Tea.  I invite every adult who 
has helped my class succeed and/or celebrate throughout the year.  A BIG 
THANK YOU.

May 9 Field trip to the Honey Island Swamp. Cost is $15 and money and 
permission slip are due now.

Don't forget to read with your child every day and talk about the school day
too.
