Hello students and parents! My name is Rachel Onstad and I will be teaching
third grade at Honey Island Elementary for the 2008-2009 school year. I am
a graduate from the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Elementary Education. I student taught at Honey Island
Elementary in the fall of 2006 and was hired to fill a sabbatical position in
the spring of 2007. I then had the pleasure to be hired permanently to teach
third grade at HIE. I am eagerly looking forward to another fantastic school
year, working closely with both you and your child. It is my goal to create
a safe, caring, and exciting learning community for your child. I am very
passionate about education and the success of my students. I am willing to
go above and beyond to ensure their success. Again, I look forward to a
great school year filled with fun and meaningful learning experiences .
1.To create a classroom community where everyone feels safe and
respected.
2.To treat each other in a friendly way which means to use kind words
and to do nice things for each other.
3.To keep a clean and organized classroom throughout the year.
4.To achieve success in our studies through learning stations,
writer’s workshop, and morning meeting.
