For the next three weeks will have Literature Circles instead of a
story. Please encourage your child to practice reading T’was the Night
Before Christmas orally. I will grade them on orally fluency. They must
read with expression, pause at commas, and stop at periods.
Please review your child’s writings this week. They must be able to write
a seven sentence paragraph. The paragraph must include a topic sentence and
detail sentences. On the I-Leap they will receive more points if they
include figurative language (similes and metaphors).
The book report can be on any book. Most of the children are reading
chapter books. It can be made from cereal or shoe boxes. They are to follow
the directions that were given on Friday before Thanksgiving. This is a
wonderful opportunity for your child to practice art, writing, and
organizational skills. Encourage them to be creative and use things they
have at home. I am encouraging recycling. If something needs to be painted
or hot glued they can do it at school if you don’t have it at home. Please
do not by anything for this project.
