Cady Bankston Memo May 13-17, 2013Reading: We complete DAV classwork, but there will be no DAV assessment this week. Students will be placed into groups and will choose a main selection from the Reading textbook that we have not read this year. Each group will read the chosen story together and will create a short play based on the story (no costumes necessary). Each group will also create a vocabulary activity for the rest of the class to complete. Plays will be performed in class on Thursday and Friday.
English: We will complete Grammar PB pages 177 on Monday. Practice book pages 179-181 and 183 will be completed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Practice book pages 185-186 will be completed on Thursday. We will complete DOL, but there will be no DOL test. Mountain Language will be completed on Friday.
Spelling: Practice book pages 181-182 were completed in class today. PB pages 180 and 183 are assigned as homework. Students should also write a sentence with each Spelling word as well. Homework should be turned in on Thursday, May 16, 2013. Many students are not turning in Spelling homework. Social Studies: This week we will move on to Chapter 15. Students will need to define the vocabulary tonight. We will complete classwork assignments, but there will not be a test on this chapter. Reminders- We will visit Boyet Jr. High tomorrow @ 10:00 am. Students will meet briefly with administration and will take a tour of the campus. All students will participate. Sixth Grade Awards Ceremony Monday, May 20 @ 9:30 am. Invitations were given to those students receiving an award. We will hold our End of the Year celebration on Tuesday, May 21 @ 1:15 pm. Students should talk with you about what they would like to bring and we are trying to make a list to avoid duplicates.
