Carter's Corner Week of November 30 - Decmber 4, 2009 1. I would like to take this time to introduce Mrs. Laura Guinot, she will be taking my place while I am out having my baby. She is a very nice, sweet, and smart lady. I do believe that the students will do very well while I am out. I will be returning in Feburary. 2. I would also like to thank you for sending the items in for the Thanksgiving feast. We had a great time. The kids enjoyed everything. 3. If you need to set up a conference, please call the school or write a note. I am available any morning at 8:10 and any afternoon at 4:00. Just let me know when you can come. 4. Please continue to practice counting money at home with your child. Try to let your child purchase small items at the store using coins, count groups of coins, or show the same amount using different coins. Some students are still having problems with this skill. It is very difficult for 2nd graders. 5. Continue to have your child read books for Reading Counts. This is very important, and the students are doing very well. These are the skills that we will focus on this week: Reading: "The Alvin Ailey Kids: Dancing as a Team" Summarize Math: Addition & Subtraction Patterns Spelling: Consonant Diagraphs: th, ch, sh, tch Language: The Verb Have Social Studies: Holidays Around the World Science: Sound If you have questions or need help with anything please write a note or give me a call at (985)892-0869.
