Carter's Corner
Week of November 9 - 13, 2009
1. I would like to take this time to thank everyone that came out for Lyon
Lagniappe. It was a fun filled night. The kids really enjoyed the
activities and it was a total success.
2. Please send in the money and permission slips for the field trip to
Fountainbleau on November 13th. The last day to pay is Thursday, November
12th. I am in need of a few chaperones. If you can help out, please let me
know.
3. Interim reports come home on Thursday. This is your child's mid nine
week's progress report. Please sign and return the envelope. You may keep
the progress report.
4. Please continue to practice counting money at home with your child. Try
to let your child purchase small items at the store using coins, count groups
of coins, or show the same amount using different coins. Some students are
still having problems with this skill. It is very difficult for 2nd graders.
5. Continue to have your child read books for Reading Counts. This is very
important, and the students are doing very well.
6. We will have a Veteran's Day program at school on Wednesday, November
11th at 9:00. If you or anyone you know are Veterans, please have them come
out and join us.
These are the skills that we will focus on this week:
Reading: "Meet the Super Croc" Summary
Math: Mental Math: Subtracting Tens and Ones
Spelling: Consonant Diagraphs: ch, sh, th, wh
Language: Past Tense Verbs
Social Studies: Ancient History/Dinosaurs
If you have questions or need help with anything please write a note or give
me a call at (985)892-0869.
