Spelling Choices

             
 
SPELLING CHOICE for Third Nine Weeks
 
Choose one activity each night to complete for spelling homework. Complete 
spelling choices Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Be sure to complete a 
different spelling activity each night. On Thursday, take a practice spelling 
test. The words missed on the practice test should be written three times 
each. 
 
1. Collage Words - Students cut out letters from magazines or newspapers to 
create their spelling words.  Flue letters on a sheet of paper.

2. Computer Words - Type your words on the computer. Print the sheet and 
bring to school.

3. Word Search - Type your spelling words in a word search and find them.  
You can use the website, puzzlemaker.com.  You could also write your spelling 
words on a sheet of paper in a word search form and find them. 

4. Chain Link Words - Cut 10 strips of paper and write one word on each strip 
of paper. Glue the strips into a chain. 

5. Hidden Picture Words - Draw a picture. Hide your words in the picture. 
Have someone try to find them. Circle each word. 

6. Newspaper words - Highlight or cut out spelling words from a newspaper.

7. Silly Sentences - Students write silly sentences using their spelling 
words.  Underline your spelling words.

8. Story Words - Students use their words to write a story underlining each 
spelling word.

9. Sentence Writing - Write a sentence with each spelling word. Underline 
your spelling word.

10. ABC Order Words - Students write their spelling words in alphabetical 
order by the first letter.
