I have been an educator for 25 years and absolutely love working with
children. I have very high expectations for my students. I expect EVERY
child to do their BEST at all times and to ALWAYS be respectful of others.
My "Golden Rule" is: Work when it's time to work,
Play when it's time to play,
And always be respectful of others.
With that being said, I also feel that a second grade education should be
fun. Children should love school and find it a "safe" place to learn to be
the best they can be. If children believe in themselves, they will grow into
caring achievers.
In second grade, students become fluent, confident, independent readers, they
learn problem solving in math, and they will master the composing of several
genres of writing. They will also increase their knowledge of the computer
and use it to complete assignments, as enrichment, as well as a tool for
sharpening basic skills. Through art and drama, students will learn to
express themselves and become more confident individuals.
