Pre-Kindergarten Newsletter
October 16, 2009
*********************************************
The 2nd nine weeks period has now begun.
An organized student is an efficient student, so replace folders if
necessary. Make space at home for your child to work in the evenings.
Remember to read and fill in your reading logs, journals, or practice writing
your child’s name for extra practice.
Colors, shapes, numbers, and letters can always be practiced outside of
school.
WORK THIS WEEK…
This week, our focus was on Community Workers.
We talked about and recorded what we want to be when we grow up.
Share your career choice and those of family members,
to help your child transfer community helper information into real life.
REMINDERS…
*Pre-K is now participating in Snack Shack on Fridays!
Please send in your 25 cents by Friday morning to have a popsicle that
afternoon.
They will have their Popsicle at the end of the day, along with our pre-k
provided snack.
Please send the 25 cents, labeled and in the folder, so we know your child
has money.
*Our pre-k office will be doing vision, hearing, and dental screenings on our
students next week. If there are any concerns in these health areas, you
will be notified almost immediately.
*Our field trip to see the LA Philharmonic Orchestra is on Fri. 10-23-09. We
are limited to the number of chaperones that we can take from each class, so
your teacher will let you know if you’ll be needed to chaperone on this
trip. You must pay your $2 chaperone fee at that time.
ALL permission slips MUST be returned ASAP and BEFORE Thurs. 10-22-09.
Please discuss proper behavior at a concert with your child BEFORE our trip.
*STPSB will be raising money for kids with cancer on Fri. 10-23-09, so Caps
For Kids will allow your child to wear a hat to school and donate $1.00 to
sick children.
Pre-k students WILL wear their hat upon arrival back to school, after our
field trip.
*If your child will be entering a LYON Spirit Poster Contest, please help
them make a poster stating Elmer’s Expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be
Responsible, & Be Courteous.
A poster is due to your teacher by Mon. 10-26-09 and it must contain student
work.
