How do I pay the cafeteria for breakfast and lunch ?

Please send any cafeteria money in your child's folder. Money should be in an envelope and should have the
student's name, teacher, amount, and what the money is for. Cash or check made payable to Lyon Elementary
School are accepted. You may also pay online.

How do I contact my child's teacher?

You may contact me by note, e-mail, or phone. A note sent in the folder or an e-mail will receive a response the day it was sent. I will try to return calls as soon as possible, but as the mother of two children, I may have activities after school to attend and may not be able to return your call until the next day.

How do I join the PTA?

Wonderful question!! Just go to the PTA website and download a form. Send the completed form with your payment in your child's folder and you will become a card carrying member of the PTA!

What is your homework policy?

I do not give much homework, but I do expect the homework given to be completed. Any homework given is a review of what we have covered in class, nothing new. Students should review vocabulary every day. A record will be kept of missing homework. If a pattern develops, then the student may begin spending recess with me to complete the missed work.

What is your behavior policy?

Third graders are expected to follow classroom rules and procedures. In the beginning of the year, I will communicate expectations and procedures to students. Students are reminded that they are one of a large group, and no one has the right to disturb another, or affect their work in a negative way. We are no longer using the clip system in third grade. If a student does something minor, a verbal warning is usually sufficient to get them back on track. However, if behaviors continue, are intentional, and a verbal warning has not worked, the student will be asked to sign the behavior book. I will not contact a parent about a signature in the book, but if I see a pattern developing, I will contact you to discuss. If you do not hear from me about behavior, then please assume that your child is meeting expectations.
