WEEKLY OVERVIEW:
*Vocabulary words for this week are:
plant, who, some, of, no, eat, wheat, bread, water, kernel,
factory
*Spelling words will focus on “short e”:
leg, beg, men, hen, let, get, who, some, hop, hot, plant
*In Reading, we will summarize and retell events in order.
*In Language Arts, we will learn about plural nouns. We will
also continue identifying sentences and their parts: a complete thought,
words in the correct order, capital letter at the beginning, and punctuation
at the end. We will practice writing How To sentences and questions.
*In Math, we will continue with addition focusing on doubles,
adding 10, making 10 to add, and adding three numbers.
Please practice math facts at home each night.
*In Social Living, we will learn about different jobs that
people do.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
*We have started book two in Reading. Please notice that
the Spelling choices have changed for the 2nd nine weeks.
*Join in the spirit poster contest. Check the flyer that
was sent home for the requirements. Show your school
spirit and pride on your poster. The posters are due
Monday, October 26th.
*PTA membership drive is going on now. A single
membership is $5.00, and a family membership is
$8.00. Please support our wonderful school and join
the PTA.
*We will be going on our first field trip on October 21st.
We will be going to Mrs. Heather’s Pumpkin Patch. The
cost of the field trip is $10.00. Permission slip and money
are due by October 19th.
*The students have been very enthusiastic and eager to learn
in the computer lab. We will be working in the lab every
other week.
REMINDERS:
*PTA Snack Shack is now open. It will be open
Every Friday when the weather in nice. Water,
chips, animal crackers, freezy pops, etc. are sold
for 50 cents.
*Homework binders and take home folders should
be returned to school each day.
*Be sure to check your child’s homework each
night to see that it is correct and neat.
*Be sure to check your child’s folder, clear out
papers to keep, and sign behavior chart every
night.
*Wednesday is our library day! Remind students to
bring library books to school on that day each
week, so another book may be checked out.
*Monday and Friday are our P.E. days. Be sure that
your child wears the appropriate shoes for P.E. on
these days.
*Test papers sent home in the Cub Roar should be returned
the following day along with the signed Cub Roar.
