Announcements

Dear Parents and Students,
Each year as part of our Physical Education Program we teach the
students the importance of physical fitness. During the year we will discuss
the 5 components of physical fitness. These components are
1.Cardiorespiratory Endurance 2.Muscular Strength 3.Muscular Endurance
4.Flexibility 5.Body Composition. To encourage the students to improve their
physical fitness independently, we will again use a program we initiated
last year called "The Fitness Chain". We are asking the students to
exercise outside of school for at least 30 minutes 4 days per week. Examples
include practices and games for different sports, dance, tennis, gymnastics,
and karate. Activities around the house, for example, include bike riding,
jumping rope, jogging, hula hooping, roller blading/skating, and walking.
Each time a student exercises 30 minutes 4 days a week we will add a
link to our fitness chain. This chain will be hung up around the gym and
links will be added weekly.
The information can be reported to us in the following ways:
       1. Go to the Madisonville Elementary website
(http://madisonvilleelementary.stpsb.org) and click on Teachers Spot. Scroll
down to Physical Education Class. You can go to the Fitness Chain Online
Response and fill it out and send it to us through webmail or you can go to
Fitness Chain Download and fill out the form and print it out and your child
give it to their homeroom teacher.
       2. The information can also be written on a piece of paper and given
to your child's homeroom teacher. It should include your child's name and
grade level. List the date, amount of time and activities performed.

This program will begin the week of October 13th.

Parents, please encourage your child/ren to participate in the Fitness Chain
and, please stop by the gym to see our progress!

Thank you,
Mrs. Fritscher and the P.E. staff

Parents,
Listed below is a website with a brochure called Healthy Kids, Healthy
Families. It reports the benefits of physical activity, gives ideas for
increasing physical activity in families, and provides assistance finding
the right fit between your child's interests and personality with organized
activites. The print is small but you can zoom in and magnify it. Please
take a look. It is a great brochure!

Parents,
Please check the class schedule to see which days your child/children
have P.E. class and have them wear tennis shoes on these days. Some children
are sitting out of P.E. class because the shoes they are wearing are not
suitable for the activities. Thank you for your help in this matter.
