Homework thoughts... Homework can often be a sticky subject, both for parents and teachers. Oftentimes, parents will tell me that it takes their child too long to complete their homework, their child does not want to complete the homework, or their child tells them they have no homework when homework has been assigned. If it takes your child more than half an hour to 45 minutes to complete homework, there is reason for concern. In that case, please let me know. If your child does not want to finish their homework or claims that they don't have any, throw it back onto my shoulder. I've often told parents to email me or call me and that will typically get their child to complete their work in an amazingly fast manner! As for teachers, we will vouch for those students who complete their assigned homework - these are typically our stronger students because they've put in the effort to strengthen the skills they've been taught in the classroom. In the cases of students who don't complete their homework (they'll tell us why too!), these are typically the students who lag behind because they're not practicing what they have learned in the classroom. In these times of such busyness, I understand how hard it can be to find time to sit down with your child and help out with their homework assignments. It does make a big difference in your child's learning if homework is completed! If you ever have questions or concerns, please let me know!
