THANKSGIVING & MOM'S MOMENTS PICS NOW ON CLASS PICS PAGE!

This week we are learning:

Language Arts
We are going to take a break from our basal reader to explore children’s
literature with a Christmas theme. We will read a different story each day.
We will use these stories to review skills that have previously been taught.
We will identify main idea & supporting details of a story. We will sequence
story events. We will categorize nouns & verbs. We will break words apart by
their syllables. See the special vocabulary & spelling section with holiday
words. Use these words for homework this week! All materials come from the
Guaranteed Parish Curriculum and Macmillan/McGraw-Hill Treasures Collection.

Math
We will continue to explore solid figures and relate them to plane shapes.
We will continue to gather data, sort it and represent the data in different
ways. We will continue to review addition and subtraction. Our math lessons
are part of the Guaranteed Parish Curriculum. Our math book is published by
Scott Foresman. We also use the programs Everyday Counts, Today’s Math and
Investigations.

Social Studies
We will continue our exciting unit on Christmas Around the World. We will
explore the traditions and customs that different countries participate in
to celebrate the holiday season. This week we will visit Italy, Holland and
the United States. Our units are taken from the state’s curriculum along
with some units that correspond with the Macmillan/McGraw-Hill Treasures
Collection.
