How do I send lunch money?

Please send lunch money in an envelope with your child's name and
assigned lunch number on it. Your child's lunch number is
located in the front of their binder (as soon as it is assigned).

Can I provide any help in the classroom?

Please let me know if you would like to be a volunteer. We can
always use help in the classroom and at home (separating
materials, assembling math packets, reviewing word cards with
students, etc.). Thanks!

What must I do when my child returns to school after an absence?

On the day your child returns to school, please turn in a signed
note with the reason for the absence. I will submit the excuse to
the office. Please note that any child that misses 18 or more
unexcused days must be retained.

Can I come join my child for lunch?

Parents and family members are welcome to join your child for
lunch. The cafeteria needs to be notified at least one day in
advance if you are planning on eating with your child. Fast food
is not allowed in the cafeteria. Our lunch time is at 11:05
daily . Please make sure to get your Visitor's Pass at the
office and wait by the cafeteria for our class.

What is my child's daily folder?

This is a binder your child will use and bring back to
school EACH DAY! It will contain all homework assignments,
reading words/stories, and any notes/information to go home. It
has a homework side and a keep at home side. It also has your
child's lunch number included. This is where you will send any
notes and/or lunch money to me. Your child's behavior calendar
is also included with his/her conduct grade for each day.

What is my child's V.I.P folder (Very Important Papers)?

This folder will contain weekly graded papers and will be sent
home every Tuesday along with a conduct and signature sheet.
Please look at your child's graded papers, discuss them with
him/her, and then return all papers along with your signature on
Wednesday. Your signature indicates that you
have seen your child's grades and that you have reviewed the
information with him/her. This folder will be kept at school
except when it is sent home with your child on Tuesdays.

What are home projects?

Home projects are non-graded assignments that I send home with
your child to complete as a family. They are often based around
a theme in which we are learning, a special event, and/or an
upcoming holiday. These projects are given with plenty of time
to complete at home and then the students bring them in to share
with their classmates. They are often displayed in the classroom
and/or hallway and they are just a fun way for the family to work
together on a project that represents the child's creative
ideas. I have had lots of positive feedback from previous
classes that have done these projects...I think you will enjoy
them, too!

How does our classroom behavior plan work?

In my classroom, I have a behavior board where each child in my
class has a magnet with their corresponding number on it. Each
student begins every day their "number" on E. If a
student's behavior is not in accordance with our classroom rules
that we created together, that child will be given a verbal
warning. If the student's behavior still does not improve after
the verbal warning has been given, then the child will move their
clip down to the next lower letter (ex: E will move to S,) .
When we are packing up our folders at the end of each
day, the student will write his/her behavior grade in their
calendar for that date. I will check each student's folder
before they pack up to make sure that he/she writes the correct
behavior letter. Please be sure that you check your child's
calendar each night to see his/her behavior grade and discuss
their day with them. Also, if your child earns an S- or an N as
his/her behavior grade for the day, I will need your signature on
that date of the calendar next to his/her behavior grade. This
will let me know that you have seen and discussed your child's
behavior with him/her.
