What is the A.R. Checklist?

This checklist is a way for your child to keep track of the books
he or she is reading. The amount of books required will change
each nine week period. Your child should be reading books on his
or her level. Each genre (type) of book listed should be

bottom of the checklist. As long as all sections are completed on

assignment.

What is the fluency log/passage?

The fluency passage will be given out each Monday morning.
Nothing should be written on this passage. It should stay in the
binder all week. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights
your child should read the passage out loud to you while you are
timing them. Your child should record the title of the passage,
the date, and the amount of time it took to read the passage out
loud on the log sheet. You should initial the log sheet
indicating that your child read the passage for the amount of
time written on the log. As the week progresses, your child's
time should get lower and lower.
