   A Note From Mrs.Desselles
Dear Parents,
        Our Christmas Party will take place on Thurs.December 17, 2009. 8:30-
9:15. Thanks for sending in the items needed for the party. If you haven’t 
sent them in yet, please send them in as soon as possible. Thanks so much!
          This week we will tour Germany, Sweden and Africa and learn about 
their holiday 
traditions.                                                                   
   Pajama Day is on Friday, Dec.18, 2009. This is a half of day. Dismissal is 
at 11:30.
The kids love pajama day so wear your favorite pajamas.
     Just a reminder,Please replenish your child's glue sticks as soon as 
possible. During the holidays please continue to read with your child and 
review high frequency words and etc. 
       I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. 
I hope your holiday is filled with love, happiness and peace. 
   What We’re Learning This Week
We will begin Unit 5. Each week we will focus a certain letter in the 
alphabet.
Themes: Animal Homes/Christmas around the World
Stories: Mole and Baby Bird, The Polar Express 
Letter and Sound Recognition: Ff and Oo
High Frequency Words: review play ,is, have, to, go, see, a, like, the, we, 
am, can, I
Color Word: review gray, white, pink black, brown, purple, orange, green, 
yellow, blue, red
 Vocabulary: position words
Oral Vocabulary: habitat and responsibility   
Phonemic Awareness: phoneme isolation phoneme segmentation, phoneme 
blending,  
Comprehension: Identify plot and character
 Math Voc.: eleven, twelve ,thirteen ,fourteen, 
fifteen,sixteen,seventeen ,eighteen , nineteen,twenty,and will write number 
using objects to represent quantities 20-31, estimate quantities of groups, 
greater ,less, numbers on the calendar, equally likely, more/most likely, 
less/least likely .Review reading and writing numbers 1-31.

Please send all homework in blue homework folder on Friday. Challenge 
Activities will be denoted by **. These are extra activities. They’re not 
required.
Monday – Read a story a Christmas story. Review reading high frequency words –
   play, is, have, to, go, see, a, like, the, we, am can, I
Tuesday – Read decodable passage. Review reading  all color words 
gray,white,pink,black,brown,purple,orange,green,yellow,blue,red **Write a 
sentence with Christmas.**
 Wednesday – Review  reading  numbers and number words 1-31.
Thursday – Do reading worksheet page 119 and 120. Read: Cam
