Weekly Assignments


Supplies for 2016-2017 school year:

Supplies: at least 2 pencils, 2 pens (blue or black only), 1 red pen, a highlighter, and 1 pack of regular sized index cards. Also, 2 notebooks or (2) 3 pronged folder with pockets filled with loose leaf paper is required. **Students who use a binder with tabs will simply need a tabbed section for English and a tabbed section for Reading.

*Students will be given vocabulary and questions relevant to chapter tests. They are expected to complete all work in class or at home for review during class time the following day. These sheets will eliminate the need for notes to be taken in class; therefore, there should be no excuses for work not being completed. These documents will serve as the study guide for e exam.*

Unit Length and Description: 

Nine Weeks 

Through the study of dystopian literature and related informational texts, students will explore how belief systems are established and called into question. They will learn how their choices and actions affect others. They will consider the value of community when individuals suffer and the value of perfection if it means giving up pain, emotions, and human connections. They will come to understand how their lives are shaped by their perceptions and the importance of knowledge and memory for living a complete life. 

This unit will focus on craft and structure and integration of knowledge and ideas.  Writing will be predominately argumentative.
