Unit: Fall
Student Understandings:
   develop an understanding that the weather changes each season of the year 
and with these weather changes there are changes in the environment

Essential Questions:
   Can students understand that the weather changes?
   Can students understand what a season of the year is?
   Can students understand that when the weather changes that the seasons of  
the year change?
   Can students understand that the environment changes?
   Can students understand the different stages of plant growth?
   
Music/Fingerplay/Books:  Fall Leaves, Fall

Guided/Independent Discovery:
  identify leaves according to color, shape, and size
  practice and develop listening skills
  sort, count, match, pattern, and graph leaves by color, shape, and size
  practice and develop counting one to one correspondence, and numeral 
recognition and identification
  participate in movement to music  and using props while pretending to be a 
leaf falling from a tree
  participate in a nature walk and share findings
  participate identifying and using descriptive language to determine the 
fall season, weather changes, and visual changes
  participate in art activity painting and glueing paper on a "tree" using 
fall colors
  attend a presentation by firefighters and role play what a firefighter does

Special Activities:
October 9th-No school for students records/professional development day
