Mr. Joshua Stearman, Assistant Band Director

Joshua Stearman is the Assistant Band Director at Mandeville High School. 
Mr. Stearman assists in the areas of Percussion, Jazz program, and all 
other aspects of the band program, as well as teaching several Fine Arts 
Survey classes. Last year the Concert Winds, under the direction of Mr. 
Stearman, earned Sweepstakes at the District IX Large Ensemble Assessment, 
a distinction earned by few area high school bands and even fewer "second 
bands". This year, Mr. Stearman will also lead the Concert Band (the 
"third band"). 

Prior to Mandeville, Mr. Stearman served as the Director of Bands at 
Delcambre High School teaching grades 6-12. At Delcambre, his marching 
band frequently earned Sweepstakes awards, and the Symphonic Band earned 
sweepstakes awards at the District and State Concert Assessments. 

Mr. Stearman earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree at Louisiana 
State University where he studied percussion under Brett Dietz and 
conducting under Dennis Llinás. Mr. Stearman is a graduate of Slidell High 
School, and has performed with the LSU Wind Ensemble, LSU Symphony 
Orchestra, Hamiruge: the LSU Percussion Group, the Acadian Wind Symphony, 
and the National Community Band.​ Mr. Stearman currently serves as the 
Secretary of the District IX Band Directors Association.
