How should I label and organize my social studies binder?

Your social studies binder should be green. On the cover you
should write
the following: YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME, social studies, and Ms.
Kerner.

The inside of your binder should include plenty of loose-leaf
paper in each
section with 4 dividers. The first divider should be marked
DAILY
GEOGRAPHY. The last 4 dividers should be marked, CURRENT CHAPTER,
S.S. LEAP,
and RESPONSE JOURNAL.

No. We have a class set, so keep your book at home, not in

Should I use a pen or a pencil in this class?

You should always have both with you. Sometimes you'll need a
pen and
sometimes you'll need a pencil. You should also have a
highlighter.

How often do you give homework?

It depends. The chapters are long and take more than a week to
get
through. Typically, you'll have 1-2 chapter assignments,
vocabulary, class
activities for grades, a quiz, and a test per chapter. This
might take 2-3
weeks to get through. All assignments will be posted on this
website and in
class ahead of time including due dates.

What do I do if I'm absent?

Check this website to see what you missed. Also, check the make
up binder
when you return to class AND ask me what you missed because there
might not
be a handout given to put in the binder. You can also ask your
classmates.

Do you accept late work?

Yes, however... you will have 20% deducted per day that an
assignment
is late. This means that you only have a few days to turn it in
late for
any credit. Also, I don't accept part of an assignment one day
and another
part the next day. If you forget to turn in part of an
assignment, such as
vocabulary, it will not be accepted the next day as I've already
graded what
you turned in. It's either all late, or incomplete.

Do you give extra credit?

Occationally. I might have it on this website sometimes or
announce it in
class. If you want it, do it when the opportunity comes up as it
won't come
up often.
