2nd Quarter Homework

This page should be checked nightly as a reminder of what we did in class today and what homework you might have in social studies.

















12/7/09 Today we reviewed for tomorrow's ch.5 test by playing the quiz game.  Tonight for homework:  Study for the ch.5 test using your voc., ch.review, people note cards, notes from the flip chart, and notes from the discussion on merchantilism.  
 
12/4/09 Today we checked the answers from the ch.5 review. Then we played Quiz-Quiz-Trade with the note cards on the people of ch.5. Tonight for homework: Study for the ch.5 test on Tuesday. 

12/3/09 Today you turned in your ch.5 review. Then we discussed and took notes on mercantilism. Tonight for homework: You have a ch.5 test on Tuesday. You could start studying for the test. 

12/2/09 Today you turned in your ch.5 people note cards. Then you took notes from a Promethean flipchart on the Louisiana French explorers. Tonight for homework: Finish your ch.5 review; it's due tomorrow. 

12/1/09 Today you had a chance to work on your 3 assignments that are due this week. At the end of the hour, you turned in your ch.5 voc. Tonight for homework: Finish your ch.5 people note cards; they're due tomorrow. 

11/30/09 Today you took the National Geographic Bee classroom version test. Winners will be notified and move on to the semi-finals (Dec.7th) and/or finals (Dec. 9). Then you had an opportunity to work on assignments from ch.5. Tonight for homework: Finish ch.5 vocabulary; it's due tomorrow. 

11/20/09 Today we finished reading ch.5. Tonight for homework: You have none in social studies! Have a great Thanksgiving holiday!

11/19/09 Today you began defining the people of chapter 5. There was a handout given in class for this assignment. Tonight for homework: You could finish the note cards if you want, but it's not due until Wednesday, December 2. 

11/18/09 Today we continued to read ch.5. Tonight for homework: If you don't have index cards, get some for tomorrow's class. You'll need 8 cards to define the 8 people in the chapter we will focus on. You will receive a handout on this assignment tomorrow. 

11/17/09 Today we went on a field trip to see the movie A Christmas Carol, which goes with the book you're reading in english. Tonight for homework: You have none in social studies. 

11/16/09 Today you had time to work on the ch.5 vocab. Then we began reading ch.5. Tonight for homework: You have none in social studies. 

11/13/09 Today you took the test on ch.13. Then you began defining the vocabulary for ch.5. Tonight for homework: You have none in social studies. This vocabulary won't be due until after Thanksgiving break. 

11/12/09 Today you worked on a Bill of Rights team activity. Tonight for homework: Study for your ch.13 test tomorrow. 

11/11/09 Today we reviewed for Friday's ch.13 test. Tonight for homework: Study more;-)

11/10/09 Today we checked the ch.13 review for the first half of the day. Those students then turned in the constitution packet. The second half of the day worked on the ch.13 review and packet then turned them both in. Tonight for homework: Study for Friday's ch.13 test. 

11/9/09 Today we had a shortened day due to Hurricane Ida. Those classes that met turned in the ch. 13 review then worked on the constitution packet. Tonight for homework: Finish the constitution packet, which is due tomorrow. 
11/6/09 Today you watched a documentary on the history of Louisiana and took notes. You turned those notes into the substitute at the end of the hour. Tonight for homework: Finish the ch.13 review, which is due Monday. 

11/5/09 Today you took the DG-6,7,8 test. Then you worked on your ch.13 review and packet. Tonight for homework: The due date of the review has been changed to Monday. The "constitution" packet will be due Tuesday. 

11/4/09 Today you had study time for the test tomorrow. You quizzed each other using your Daily Geography sheets 6,7,&8. Tonight for homework: Study more for the DG test tomorrow. There's a lot of information. 

11/3/09 Today we did a Promethean flip chart on the Bill of Rights. Tonight for homework: Complete your ch.13 vocab. It's due tomorrow. 

11/2/09 There was a ch.13 handout given today and you began working on that. Tonight for homework: Work on the ch.13 vocab. It's due Wednesday. The review is due Friday. The packet is due next week.

10/30/09 Today we finished reading ch.13. Then we began working on the ch.13 review. Tonight for homework: You have none for social studies. 

10/29/09 Today we began reading ch.13. Tonight for homework: You have none in social studies.

10/28/09 Today you took the ch.3 test. Then you began the vocabulary for ch.13...yes we're skipping ahead, but we'll go back later. Tonight for homework: You have none for social studies. The vocabulary will be due later next week. 

10/27/09 Today we reviewed for the test tomorrow. Tonight for homework: Study for the ch.3 test. 

10/26/09 Today some of you finished your small business presentations. Others had a test review for Wednesday's test. Tonight for homework: Study for Wednesday's ch.3 test. 

10/23/09 Today some of you did your small business presentations. Others will present Monday. Tonight form homework: Study for the ch.3 test, which will be Wednesday. 

10/22/09 Today some of you did your small business presentations. Others will present tomorrow or Monday. Tonight for homework: Study for your ch. 3 test next week. 

10/21/09 I have not posted for a few days due to the fact that I've been out of state for a family funeral. Monday and Tuesday, students worked on their small business projects in class with the sub. I accepted the career assignment that was originally due yesterday today because I wasn't here yesterday to take it. I normally don't have an assignment due while a sub is here, but I forgot to let the sub know due to the fact that I left town in a hurry. Tonight for homework: All but 2nd hour will present their projects tomorrow. Make sure you've put on the final touches to be ready to present. 2nd hour will present Friday due to the missed class from Tuesday's Red Ribbon assembly. 

10/16/09 Today we worked in the computer lab on a career assignment. See handout for details. Tonight for homework: Work on the career assignment. It is due Tuesday. Also, remember to bring items to class to work on your small business project with your teams. 

10/15/09 Today you turned in your DG-6 then worked on your small business projects with your teams. Tonight for homework: You have none in social studies. 

10/14/09 Today you turned in your ch.3 Q&A's. Then we began an in-class project. In your teams, you will create a small business and present your business idea to the class next week. Please see the handout for details. Tonight for homework: Gather things needed to work on your team projects in class tomorrow. 
10/13/09 Today you checked your ch.3 review and played Quiz-Quiz-Trade with them to study. Tonight for homework: Make sure you've turned in your ch.3 Q& A's that are due tomorrow. 
10/12/09 Today you turned in your ch. 3 review note cards. Then we changed teams (seating arrangements). You got to know your new teammates by doing teambuilder activities. Tonight for homework: Finish your ch. 3 Q & A's if you haven't turned that in. It's due Wednesday.
